About Ta Cu Nature Reserve

Ta Cu Nature Reserve

Ta Cu Nature Reserve covers the Ta Cu Mountain located in the Binh Thuan Province of southern Vietnam. The reserve protects a large area of tropical forest, providing a habitat for a diversity of plant and animal species, including several rare and endemic species. The mountain rises to about 649 meters (2,130 feet) and is an important ecological site for both conservation and scientific study. The reserve’s dense forests are home to birds, butterflies, and small mammals, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and wildlife watchers. Visitors primarily come for hiking and trekking, as the reserve offers several trails with varying levels of difficulty that wind through the tropical forest. A highlight for many is the ascent to the summit where the iconic 49-meter-long Reclining Buddha statue—the largest in Southeast Asia—stands serenely amidst the natural surroundings. This statue is part of the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda, adding a spiritual dimension to the hiking experience. Additionally, a cable car system provides alternative access to the summit for less physically able visitors. The reserve's natural beauty, combined with cultural significance and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, attracts both local visitors and tourists. Conservation efforts focus on preserving the forest ecosystem and maintaining the quality of trails, while visitor amenities include picnic areas, lookout points, and spiritual sites. Ta Cu Nature Reserve offers opportunities for hiking, photography, nature study, and experiencing Vietnamese religious culture in a peaceful mountain setting.
